Sunday 20th June 2004. Tomato Lake Oats Street, Carlisle Registration from 9am, races will start at 10am SHARP. It is important that you register your ferrets (limit of 5 ferrets per membership) BEFORE 17th JUNE, by filling in the form in your newsletter, or by emailing / phoning through the following information to: smhewett@dodo.com.au / phone (08) 9377 6478 A/H. Because all computer printouts need to be completed prior to the event and the Coordinators will be flat out on the day, ABSOLUTELY NO LATE ENTRIES CAN BE ACCEPTED, but you can pay on the day. As this will be an all day even, come prepared to stay until the end. If you really do need to leave early, plese notify the coordinators. Early bird helpers are very welcome, and if anyone wishes to stay behind after all the action to help pack up would also be greatly appreciated. All ferrets will race in the heats for the Open Championship. The first three place-getters of each heat will continue to compete in the Open final heats until the Championship is decided with first, second and third places. Non place-getters of the Open heats, depending on their gender, will vie for the Male or Female Championships and they too will compete in their heats until the winnters, with second and third places, have been found. So bring your family, friends and ferrets to enjoy a day of good natured rivalry. Bring a picnic or BBQ lunch or buy from the Tomato Lake Kiosk, and don't forget food and water for your ferrets as they will be the ones doing all the hard work (or not!) We look forward to seeing you there! |

1. The races are open to WAFFS members only - membership must be current. Bring along your membership card to make processing faster. 2. Registration fee is $1.00 per ferret and no late entries will be accepted. 3. A maximum of 5 entries per membership is allowed. 4. Ferrets will race through 12 metres of PVC piping. 5. Pipes will be placed parallel to each other, at least half a metre apart. 6. Stopwatches will be used to time each race. 7. Heats will be held for each category and finals held after all heats have been completed. 8. The order of races will be determined on the day. 9. At the start of the race, ferrets will be placed at the beginning of their pipes. 10. After placing their ferret in the pipe and putting the pipe-cap in place, each starter will move immediately to the end of the course (behind the marked line). 11. All viewers will remain behind the roped off area so as not to distract the racing ferrets. 12. There will be no movement of the pipes or other distractions apart from verbal encouragement. 13. The winning ferret is the first to emerge from the pipe without any physical help from its starter and may only be touched by a Marshal until all place-getters have been selected. 14. The ferret's four legs must be out of the pipe before it is deemed to have completed the race. 15. Judges are independent and will be selected on the day. 16. Any queries about the results or running of a race are to be discussed with the judges before the start of the next race. 17. There will be trophies / prizes for winners and place-getters in all categories. 18. Any action causing pain or discomfort to a ferret will result in immediate disqualification. GOOD LUCK TO ALL ENTRANTS |
