Toilet training

Hi, I have a six month old black eyed white who still hasn't learnt to use litter trays. He uses one in the cage only because we've sunk the tray so he can back right into it. Every where else in the house we can't do that, so he backs up next to the trays or just does his business in random places! We had thought living with three other ferrets he would have learned by now (we've had him since Feb) and we don't know what else to do! FYI, he isn't desexed yet but that will be done next week. Any suggestions please?

You could try cutting the side down on the litter tray so that it is easier for him to get into. Some ferrets are just lazy and and will not climb into the tray. They also never seem to grow out of it. I have given up on litter trays around the house and just use sheets of newspaper spread out. I also use the sheets of newspaper in the litter trays and under them (for accidents???) My ferrets seem to think that litter is for digging/snorkelling in and not for the toilet at all.

toilet training

maybe getting him desexed will help, my lttle boy didn't like going to the same litter box as my girl so just went where ever he wanted(which was every where!!) then they both got desexed and it help, it was great.....for a while at least...then i think he just got lazy again(typical male) and just goes where he feels like.So I guess there 3 things un aviodable in life death, taxes and where you ferret wants to go potty!
