Hi, I am a new ferret owner so please bear with me while I ask you all silly questions and fuss over my little boy. but aren't we supposed to use a litter tray for them to toilet in? I was told Maxx's cat litter was suitable. But I changed that as soon as possible as it was very dusty. I now use breeders choice cat litter. I would appreciate any advice you care to offer. |

Hello Clare, Ferrets always seem to find it comfortable to reverse into the nearest corner and most of the time they use the same corner over and over. So all I do is wait until they find a suitable corner and line it with newspaper. I fold the sides of the paper up so it protects the wall and newspapers are plentiful, free and best of all...very absorbent.Flat paper also gives a good platform for poop inspections. Being a new ferret owner, don't overlook the importance of checking for healthy poos. |

*shudders* . . . We use the crystal litter - the dust free, white and blue rock-like things. We have never had any problems so far. They absorb the smell well too. You should be able to find it in the pet section of Coles or Woolworths, or probably City Farmer - One of the brands that we use is Snappy Tom's Crystal Clean. There are other 'crystal litter' brands too. Hope it's a handy spot of info for you. Catherine |
